Established in 2020, Illinois Unidos is a coalition of 150+ Latino healthcare providers, policymakers, experts, nonprofits, and leaders. As the most extensive statewide coalition in the U.S., we’ve impacted 500,000 individuals through initiatives like community health worker networks, bilingual health information, health policy advocacy, and equitable resource promotion. Incorporated in February, we submitted our 501c3 application in November 2023.
With a dedicated board and staff, our focus is on capacity building, leadership development, and community-centered health policy efforts, guided by grassroots leaders to address historic health disparities within the state’s Latino community, extending services to northern Illinois.
Every Latino family in Illinois has equal access to high-quality healthcare, robust pandemic relief, well-paid jobs with workplace protections, and comprehensive public services, regardless of immigration status.
Boldly champion an equitable recovery from the public health challenges facing Latinos while advocating for access to quality healthcare, secure and well- paid employment, and an improved quality of life.
We embolden Community Health Workers with essential tools and leadership skills within a healing environment, enabling them to serve their communities with confidence and deliver impactful resources.
We provide bilingual health information and conduct train-the-trainer workshops with professionals and community health workers for the Latino community, ensuring effective learning, empowerment, and awareness of vital health information.
We empower members and partners with essential skills, building capacity and leadership to fortify the Latino community against Long-COVID and comorbidities like Diabetes, Hypertension, Obesity, and Asthma.
We advocate for policies addressing health disparities in Illinois’ Latino community. Engaging stakeholders, we educate policymakers for comprehensive recovery, prioritizing targeted public investments and state-level policies benefiting not only the Latino community but also other affected communities of color.
Founded in April 2020, our coalition continues to have unwavering determination, driven by our mission: to fiercely champion equitable responses and recovery efforts in the face of the profound impact of public health challenges within the Latino community.
